World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Release Date Speculation
WoW.com recently posted an article with speculation about the release date for the new World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm. All clues appear to be pointing at a November 2010 release. See the details after the break.
One small bit of rumor has been floating around the BlizzCon floor the last couple days: that World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be released in 2010. We hear these kind of rumors all the time, and don’t give them very much credence. Whatever date is up on Game Stop (November 1st, 2010) or Amazon or wherever are just placeholder dates until they start to change or we hear from trusted sources that the dates are correct.
But this time, things are a little bit different.
WoW.com has been able to confirm that during a DirecTV interview, Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, revealed that Cataclysm is targeted for a 2010 release date.
Now a targeted release date should be clearly understood for what it is. It is a date that Blizzard wants to ship their game, nothing more, nothing less. It means that they have a plan and schedule to get the game ready by then. But as everyone knows, long term schedules can and do change. Please limit the QQ if we don’t see Cataclysm next year.
After all, anyone that happened to pre-order Diablo II will tell you that Blizzard has no problem pushing back release dates. I would like to hear see other opinions on this! I for one am looking forward to Goblins as a playable race, just wish they weren’t horde!

I enjoying reading your post.
Given that Bliz have also said that there will be no more ocntent patches after 3.3, then Cataclysm BETTER be 2010. Icecrown Citadel will give up all it’s got loooong before 2011. If Blizz think that members of raiding guilds arwe going to sit on their backside paying months of subs after the content has run out they should think again. EIther get Patch 3.4 – or Release Cataclysm quick. No progression = No Warcraft = No more pay subs. Period
I agree that ICC will be be done long before the expected expansion drop date. There will still be the next arena season, which will open up the next boss in VoA. Blizzard will come up with something I’m sure.
